Saturday:
Cherilyn drove all the way down from Albany new York to Queens Village to my tiny art studio. A very long ride.
Cherilyn picked up her Make Up artist and fought traffic to make it here on time 2 hours late. A typical Model joke that when a model says she will be here at 1 pm I start setting up for her to get here around 2:30
Cherilyn finally arrived and then sat for her make up which took the usual time.
Cherilyn told me what she wanted the shoot to be of. I thought “what a shame she drove all this way and having all this time put in on make up for a shoot that is going to take less than 5 minutes.”
I don’t want to say I am good but I usually understand what the model wants shot and spend no time shooting fluff but what was I going to do here?
5 minutes into the actual shoot and I looked at her and said “I think I got the shot. In fact I got the shot already.”
She looked at me with total disbelief and I know she was thinking “all this for that?”
So I suggested we go outside. Maybe we can get some shots that we couldn’t get in the studio like action shots featuring running or wall climbing but the sun was too strong plus there was no way she was going to run or jump in those high heel boots.
So we called it a rap and while she took her MUA home I worked on what she wanted which was a “sin city” plus “watchman” type look. I never did that before but knew how. It was done except for the lettering by the time Cherilyn got back.
I let her look through the shoot and she agreed “You got the shots when you said ‘I got the shot already.”
Yep, ahhh it’s what I do (imagine Barney Fife saying that here)
